Bifocal Lenses: Clear Vision, Simplified

The classic choice for multi-distance vision. Bifocals feature a distinct line separating two prescription powers: one for seeing the world ahead and a dedicated segment for reading up close.

Two Dedicated Zones

Unlike progressives, which have a gradual transition, bifocals offer a wide and stable viewing area for both distances. The “top” of the lens is your distance prescription, while the “bottom” segment is your reading prescription.

  • **Upper Lens:** Corrects Myopia (Nearsightedness) or Hyperopia (Farsightedness).
  • **Lower Segment:** A clear D-shaped segment for reading and fine detail work.
  • **Wide Field of View:** Provides a broader reading zone than most progressive lenses.

Bifocal Questions

Yes, bifocal lenses have a visible horizontal line that separates the distance and reading prescriptions. If you prefer a lens without a visible line, we recommend exploring our Progressive Lenses.
The D-Seg is the most common bifocal shape. It looks like a capital ‘D’ turned on its side. It is designed to provide the widest possible reading area for your eyes.
Bifocals are excellent for reading and distance. However, for intermediate distances (like a computer screen), some users find Progressive lenses or specialized Workspace lenses more comfortable.
